First competition win for under 11 Griffins

Today’s match report was written by Millie who is currently sidelined due to a fractured wrist (a footballing injury!). We’re looking forward to Millie making her return in our next fixture!

This was the team’s first “competitive” fixture, meaning the first time their scoreline was published publicly: https://fulltime.thefa.com/displayFixture.html?id=26489867 well done girls!

Another great win from the LA under 11 Griffins. It was a tough game in challenging conditions against a strong team. Within the first 2 mins Martha scored to put the Griffins in the lead, followed quickly with a goal from Ava.

There were some great shots at goal from Martha and Aria but at halftime the Griffins were still leading by 2 goals to nil. Erin was full of energy, using herself to block the ball and not holding back, she was also tackling fiercely and looking forward with the ball to pass it onto her attacking teammates.

After half time Longwell Green put some pressure on and gained possession looking like they could make a comeback, however Ella was able to put the Griffins in a comfortable position with a goal making it 3-0. Unfortunately, despite an excellent attempt at saving a shot from Longwell Green the ball slipped through our goalkeeper’s legs putting Longwell Green back into the game at 3-1.

The Griffins fought back, and Ella scored another goal giving the Griffins a strong lead of 4-1. However, Longwell Green didn’t give up and came back with another goal. The final result being 4-2.

There were some awesome saves from our goalies and every player’s capabilities and determination shone through. Despite the really wet weather the girls showed real spirit and didn’t give up, they should be really proud of their third win from three games so far this season.
