Message from the Chairman, 2024/25 season

So it’s back to school this week – and as sad as it is that the summer holidays have come to an end, the colder autumn mornings bring the excitement of a new football season.

Balls of all different sizes are being delivered and painstakingly inflated by the coaches. Bibs counted, match wear ordered. Fixtures, forms and a barrage of information being sent out to parents, referees booked, pitches mowed and marked with white lines – it’s an incredibly busy time for all working behind the scenes at the football club.

We have recently formed new agreements with Cotham Rugby Club and Long Ashton Cricket Club to enable us to play more matches within the vicinity of the village and QEH have been amazing providing match day facilities for the girls team.

Coaches are being fitted out in new coats for the winter thanks to the Parish Council, and we have been able to buy some new kits for some age groups thanks to some very generous sponsors.

The season ahead is particularly exciting with 4 girls teams all entering League competition for the first time. The girls teams continue to grow at pace and it’s amazing watching them train and play with such enjoyment.

In the next few weeks a new group of girls and boys will be starting for the Under 6s – the future of our club for the years ahead.

We hope to build on the successes of last season. We want everyone to be proud of all the Long Ashton Junior teams but the most important thing is that the children get to enjoy playing football.

Good luck all, have a great season.

Dan
