Long Ashton under 11 girls win in Portishead

Today’s match report was written by Millie who is currently sidelined due to a fractured wrist (a footballing injury!). Everyone at the club wishes you a speedy recovery Millie!

The Griffins had a great game today with their 2nd clean sheet. After the victory, the girls as you can imagine should be very tired, especially Emilia who ran the whole pitch for most of the game. With our first goal from Martha at just 11 minutes in, you could tell the game was going to get good. Then a further 2 goals from Ava in the 13th minute.

After the 1st quarter, Isla taps it in with her first kick of the ball out on pitch after coming out of goal. Erin then scores a disallowed goal (as she was offside). Another goal, from Erin, at 20 minutes secured the lead.

A few more good runs later, Martha scores at 22 minutes, a few minutes later she scored again making this her first hat-trick of the season. Martha then goes for her 4th, 28 minutes in. Our next goal was from Lexi (36 minutes in).

Fortunately for us, a while later we were awarded a penalty, which Ava brilliantly scored. Another awesome strike from Emilia sealed another goal, followed by another from Ava, the girls were unstoppable.

Let’s not forget our other girls in defence and midfield, Jess Jones, Amira, Molly, Gabi, Ella and Aria who regained possession, blocked shots and kept moving the ball forward throughout the game.

Shoutout to the goalies – Ella, Isla, and Gabi. In the last quarter Ella did an impressive goal kick that went over the halfway line.

Overall great tackles and play from both teams. The girls were awesome. All whom should be very proud.
