Message from the Chairman, 2023/24 season

Hi,

I hope you’ve all enjoyed the summer break. The highlight for me was the Women’s World Cup and it was great to see so many excited to follow the Lionesses brave adventures in Australia.

We now look forward to getting back into training and the new football season kicking off for all the teams of Long Ashton Junior Football Club. Always an exciting time for players, parents, coaches and all involved with the club. We already have much interest in the new mixed Under 6 team, and also a new Under 8 Girls team.

We still need more volunteers to help run the ever-expanding club – so please, if you can spare any time to help we have many roles in the club to fill. The club currently relies on too few individuals, which is not sustainable and we will be stronger the more volunteers we have all working together. Get in touch with me ( [email protected] ) if you are interested, we’ll be posting more about volunteering opportunities on the website soon.

There have been concerns raised following some social media messages regarding Long Ashton grass roots football and the relationship between the Senior Long Ashton Football Club and the Long Ashton Community Association. I would like to assure you this is not impacting the Junior Football Club.  We will try to support both organisations going forwards and hope an amicable solution can be found to satisfy all.

Finally, a little reminder from me to please pay your children’s subs for the new season as soon as you can.

Many thanks and good luck for the season ahead.

Dan Strophair, Chairman
Long Ashton Junior Football Club
